LAUTECH: EVERYTHING SHOULD BE OVER BEFORE THE END OF JUNE —UNIVERSITY BURSAR

By Bamidele Williams

Speaking at the early hours of Tuesday with PigeonPost News in a telephone conversation; the Bursar of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho; Mr. Yomi Okedeji stated that the crisis currently rocking the university should be over before the end of the month of June with all hopefulness, considering the white paper made available some days ago.

“The problem will soon be over. The white paper has been released and implementation of the white paper should be the next thing. And that is why I said the crisis will soon be over. We have to study the white paper and the governing council will have to implement it. But presently, to the best of my knowledge, the tenure of the governing council is already off. And the next governing council are going to that.”

Speaking on the possible time frame for an end to the crisis; Mr. Yomi Okedeji stated that the crisis should be over in few weeks. And most likely before the end of this month of June.

“Everybody were seriously concerned and I am of the opinion that that is what everybody is working towards. In few weeks time, everything should be over. Before the end of this month by the special grace of God. We are very hopeful.”

Reacting to the white paper report where it was detected that the university operates 97 different bank accounts in almost all the commercial banks in the country as against the directive of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy specifically put in place to promote transparency and where majority of the banks have closed up due to either restructuring, merger or outright de-listment by the Central Bank of Nigeria; Mr. Yomi Okedeji dissociates himself from the report as the report indicated 2011 to 2012 when he has not assumed office.

“I can speak specifically with authority on what happened from 2013 to now. What happened before then, I don’t know anything about it because I was not in the office then. And all what the report is talking about happened before 2013. That is within 2011 and 2012.”
